At the June 2010 WWDC Steve Jobs presented some incredible statistics on the market performance of the iPad. Put aside the naive comments about it not having a place in the market or even the speculation that it might not be a success, the numbers clearly speak for themselves….

More than one million iPads were sold during the first month of limited availability (it’s not available in all countries yet). Despite pre-launch sceptisim regarding where the device would fit in the computing spectrum, it seems to be carving out a clear niche for itself, but also taking over from where the netbook used to sit. Apple has released patches for around 40 vulnerabilities in the Mac OS X operating system and more than half of them labelled with the company’s equivalent of “critical”. This brings to 250 the number of system updates released this year.
