In the UK 1.3 million consumers are shopping online each day according to a recent nationwide poll conducted by price comparison site shopzilla. The UK even outstrips the US, with at least 9 out of 10 UK consumers shopping online at least once a month, compared to seven out of ten Americans.

The poll of more than 3000 Brits indicated that the ability to shop any time of the day or night, plus price and convenience were the biggest motivators for shopping online. The survey also indicated that many UK consumers enjoyed their online shopping experience more than scouring the hight street.

The poll revealed that shopping satisfaction was considerably higher online than on the high street, with shoppers giving the online experience eight out of ten or above, compared to just two out of ten for highh street stores. Customer service again scored higher online, with 55% of shoppers giving interent stores 8 out of 10 or better compared with only 28% for high street counterparts.

With the onset of the so-called credit crunch, the poll revealed that more than half of shoppers were now more likely to hunt for a items online in a bid to save money. Plus. it seems like most sensible people, over a third, will be looking to save money by shopping online this Christmas.
