Lufthansa has set up a new service named MySkyStatus that automatically posts the current position of your flight to Twitter or Facebook so your friends and stalkers can follow your travel progress. Obviously the updates do not actually come from the plane or flight crew (mobile phones should be in flight mode or switched off!), we assume the service is connected to the airlines ground based flight management system.We tried it out and have to confess failed to be able to get it to work. However it was probably our fault rather than the system. Our other observation is that, apparently, you can use this service to track carriers other than Lufthansa. How very Social of them
